Motorist Killed in Silver Spring
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a collision that occurred this evening at approximately 5:20 p.m. in Silver Spring.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1993 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Norwood Road, collided with a 1995 Cadillac which was attempting to make a left turn onto Norbeck Road from northbound Norwood Road.
The driver of the Toyota, Michael David Westbrook, age 22, of the 3600 block of Stoney Castle Street in Olney, was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Cadillac, William Walker Gilmour, age 81, of the unit block of Vantage Hill Court in Silver Spring, was transported to Montgomery General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Mr. Gilmour’s next of kin has been notified.
The collision is still under investigation. As is the standard procedure in investigating a fatal collision, any charges will be determined by the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office after the investigation has been completed by the Collision Reconstruction Unit. Private First Class William Walker Wilmore, United States Army, will be buried at Arlington National Cemerery on 31 January 2006.
