Warren Reed Graves, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force (retired) age 76, West Point Class of 1948, died of a heart attack Monday, October 22, 2001 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida.
Son of the late Warren Edwin and Mary Geneva (Reed) Graves. He grew up in McLean, Virginia and graduated from Western High School, Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Jackson Graves of Hampton, Florida; four children, Edwin Earl Graves of Southern California, Warren Reed Graves, Jr. and his wife, Linda Sybrandt of Los Angeles, California, Wendy Graves of Rolling Hills Estates, California and Anne Graves King and her husband, Jeff King and their children, Reed and Hanna King, a third child is expected in April 2002. Other survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Philip Edwin and Nancy Lord Graves of McLean, Virginia; a nephew, Ralph Ellis Graves of Orange, Virginia; niece, Sandra Claire Graves of Reston, Virginia.
Funeral services will be offered on Wednesday, November 14 at 9 a.m. at the Fort. Myer Chapel. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery. Following burial a reception at Sharon Masonic Lodge, 999 Balls Hill Rd., McLean, Virginia, where anyone wishing to pay their respects may do so between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
