Retired Army Colonel Winton O. Etz, 87, of Rotonda West, Florida, died March 27, 1998.
Colonel Etz was born December 4, 1910, in Dayton, Ohio, and he entered the Army Air Corps in 1928. His assignments included the Philippines, Japan, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He retired in 1961.
His awards and commendations include the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Meritorious Service Unit Award and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
He is survived by his wife, Catherine M. Etz of Rotonda West; two daughters, Marina E. Elnitski of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, and Kathleen Gay Venier of Lexington, Massachusetts; one son, Winton O. Etz Jr. of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held April 3, 1998, at Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
