GENERAL WILLIAM JAMES SUTTON
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – September 11, 1972 – Major General William James Sutton, former Chief of the Army Reserve, died yesterday in Washington. He was 64 years old.
As a Reservist in San Antonio, General Sutton was regimental commander, chief of staff and assistant division commander of Texas’ 90th Infantry Division. He then went to Washington and was Chief of the Army Reserve from 1963 until he retired last year.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
