Retired United States Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel William F. Donahue of Montpelier, Vermont, died April 6, 2002.
He was the widower of Joyce W. Donahue. He is survived by his son, William Edward Donahue; two daughters, Carol Church and Trudy Messie; a brother, Robert Donahue of Montgomery, Alabama; a sister, Ruth Carpenter of Indianapolis, Indiana; five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Lieutenant Colonel Donahue was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and was decorated with the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. He was an alumnus of Auburn University and received his master’s degree at the University of Tampa.
A private graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
