MIAMI, Florida – October 16, 1944 – Mrs. Mary E. Hills, to whom the famous song, “My Wild Irish Rose,” was dedicated, died in a hospital here today. She was 73 years old.
At one time she was an understudy of Lillian Russell, stage actress.
Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery beside her husband, William Ellery Hills, a member of the Astor Battalion in the Spanish-American War.
