Captain Weldon Edwards Davis, Co. B, 30th NC Inf, resided in Warren Co., NC where he enlisted at age 23. Appointed 3rd Lieutenant on Aug 16th, 1861. Promoted to 2nd Lt. on Sept 26th, 1861. Promoted 1st Lt. on May 1st, 1862. Promoted to Captain on June 13th, 1863. Wounded in the right thigh and captured at Kelly’s Ford, Va., Nov 7th, 1863. Hospitalized at Washington, DC. Right leg amputated on Nov 10th, 1863. Died in hospital at Washington on Nov 22nd, 1863 of wounds.
