“These photos were taken yesterday afternoon (4 April 2006) when the ‘family’ of Chester Troxel came to Arlington National Cemetery for the first time.
“Some of you knew they were coming, for others this is your first mention of it. The group is the Anchorage Christian School Choir. A choir which Chester Troxel’s son Hollis is a member. This New York City-Washington, D.C. trip was booked long before he lost his father in January 2006.
“The photos start with their wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown, goes to their first assembly at the site in 60, and the magic that followed.
“If you’ve not read about this extraordinary family, click here for the the Troxel page. You’ll see just how integral this church is to this family. Even if you’ve not got the fortitude to look through all of the photos, I think these photo are uplifting. Those kids, who were assembled in front of all of your family, and their own Troxel for the first -and possibly only time,– pulled themselves together and sang for everyone with a PURPOSE. They filled the field with a kind of moment that I couldn’t help but share with you all.”

In Honored Memory of Chester William Troxel,
Chief Warrant Officer, United States Army
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
