Trenton John Nicolai, 49, an Army warrant officer who retired in 1994 from an intelligence assignment at Fort Belvoir, died of cancer Jan.uary 26, 2000 at his home in Alexandria, Virginia. He had lived in the Washington area for 22 years.
Mr. Nicolai was born in Menoninee, Michigan. He attended schools that included the FBI National Academy and the University of Delaware.
He joined the Army in 1969 and was later posted to Korea and Turkey.
After he retired, he worked for Caci Inc. as a litigation project manager.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Beatrice Nicolai of Alexandria; two children, Tracy Nicolai of Gaithersburg and Christopher Nicolai of Woodbridge; his parents, Claire Flower Nicolai and Bernetta Nicolai, both of Shanawo, Wis.; a sister; and a grandson.

A funeral service will be held at Fort Myer Chapel on Wednesday, February 9, at 8:45 a.m., followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery. Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
