Thomas N. Georges, formerly of Shelby Township, died Wednesday, December 20, 1995, on the American Airlines flight that crashed near Cali, Colombia. He was 59.
Colonel Georges and his wife, Maura, lived in Castaic, California
Colonel Georges served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War, the first as an Army helicopter pilot. He later received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Maura; two daughters, Leonor and Vikki Gasko; a son, Alejandro; five grandchildren; and a brother.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover, Warren. A funeral service will follow the visitation.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
