On 5 January 1998 Ruth Parsons Schabacker, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force, was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
Ruth has the unique distinction of being the model for the Nurse’s monument at Arlington. She was a great supporter of the Women’s Memorial recently dedicated at the entrance of the Cemetery.
She was buried with her husband, Brigadier General Clarence H. Schabacker, in section 30, about 25 yards away from the Women’s Memorial.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
