Colonel Robert W. Noce, 79, a retired U.S. Army officer, a 1949 graudate of the United States Military Academy, and a highly decorated veteran of Vietnam, died November 29, 2005, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born February 15, 1926, in Washington, D.C. to Lieutenant General Daniel A. and Mildred Wilson Noce.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Pauline; children Barbara N. Jolly (William F.), Julia C. Spencer (Gary L.),
Mary L. Vroman, Ruth Holmaas (Andrew E.), Joy L. Loewe (Wayne) of Old Greenwich and Kim L. Holbert (Keith W.); seven grandchildren and four nieces and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated December 2, 2005, at St. Alan Church in Troy. Interment with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will follow at a later date.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
