RAY S. BAXTER DIES IN NAVAL HOSPITAL
Former Atlanta Musician To be Buried Today
ATLANTA, Georgia, May 16, 1939 – Ray Stanley Baxter, formerly a well-known Atlanta musician died Saturday at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, friends here were notified yesterday.
A World War veteran, Baxter served overseas with the 61st Infantry and was a member of the regimental band. At the close of the war he came here to live and about four years ago moved to Washington to take a position with the Department of the Interior.
Funeral services will be held today at Washington and burial will be in the National Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Miss Minna Gertrude Baxter, and two brothers, Verne and Harold Baxter.
