2 ARMY FILIERS KILLED IN HAWAII
HONOLULU, June 17, 1941 – An Army fighter plane crashed in Kalihi Valley near Honolu today killing the two occupants, Second Lieutenant Robert L. Bedle, 21, of Augusta, Georgia, and Cadet Ralph Merkl, 26, of Lincoln, Alabama. The cause of the crash was not disclosed.
