My father, Captain Robert Joseph Lucas, disappeared on November 24, 1962 piloting a F-102 out of Paine Field Air Force Base, Tacoma, Washington, where we were stationed.
They searched 10 days in the Olympic National Peninsula and then sent us packing to my mother’s birth place here in North Carolina.
Captain Robert Joseph Lucas has a marker at Arlington Cemetery that I’ve visited many, times. The Air Force never located him or his plane so they tell us. We’re 42 years and counting.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Lucas Jr.
