Master Sergeant Brown was born in Malden, Massachusetts His father was a Ship Captain in the Merchant Marines. He enlisted in the Navy in 1929 and was discharged in 1932.
During World War Two, he was a civilian Flight instructor at Ryans Field in Tucson, Arizona. Later he was a Glider Pilot.
He was a commisioned officer and flew C46 aircraft in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for mor than 300 hours of operational flight over the dangerousAssam-China air routes.
After the war he was discharged and enlisted as a Master Sergeant in the Army Air Corps.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
