Private Futch was a member of Company A, 840th Engineer Aviation Construction Battalion. On November 19, 1952, six miles south of Osan, South Korea, he was in a vehicle that was struck by at train at a train crossing. Private Futch was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
