Captured at Roanoke Island on February 8, 1862, and paroled at Elizabeth City on February 21, 1862. Exchanged at Aiken’s Landing, James River, Virginia, November 10, 1862. Present or accounted for until wounded at or near Drewry’s Bluff, Virginia, on or about May 13, 1864. Rejoined the company prior to September 30, 1864, when he was wounded in the left arm and captured at Fort Harrison, Virginia. Hospitalized at Fort Monroe, Virginia, until transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, where he arrived October 5, 1864. Paroled at Point Lookout and transferred to Boulware’s Wharf, James River, Virginia, where he was received March 19, 1865, for exchange.
