Joseph Jacob Bogart died at the National Naval Medical Center, on Wednesday, December 23, 1998, of Chevy Chase, Maryland. He was the beloved husband of Rita F. Bogart; devoted father of Beth A. Bogart and Mrs. Bogart’s son, Eric A. Fountain, Jr; grandfather of Alexander and Adrian Howe, Tripp, Andrew and Aubrey Fountain and Cole Fenton. Three sisters and two brothers also survive.
Colonel Bogart was a decorated 14th Air Force Flying Tiger pilot, who fought in the China-Burma-India theater and a career Air Force officer. He then worked for the Department of Defense until his retirement.
Service will be held at Fort Myer Chapel, Wednesday, January 13, 1999, at 1 p.m. Interment Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cushing Support and Research Foundation, 65 E. India Row, Suite 22-B, Boston, Massachusetts 02110.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
