He first served in the American Revolution at the age of 15.
Little is known presently of his service, but the research continues.
Following his death he was initially buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Washington, D.C. He was moved to Section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery on May 12, 1892.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
