John G. Roberts, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002, in Winter Springs, Florida.
He was born in Waukegan, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he lettered on the 1932 varsity golf team. He received a law degree from the University of Chicago and participated in amateur acting and directing with the Joyce Kilmer Players and De Paul University players in Chicago.
During World War II, he was an Army Intelligence Officer and in 1947 joined the Central Intelligence Agency, where he had a distinguished 24-year career as an officer, with postings in Paris, London and Washington D.C. In retirement, he earned the Professional Golf Association’s teaching card and conducted golf lessons in Rockville, Maryland, for 8 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nada Roberts of Winter Springs, Florida; daughter, Marsha Roberts of Mill Valley, California; son, Gregory Roberts of Winter Park, Florida; grandsons Alexander and Matthew Roberts of Winter Park, Florida; son-in-law, Greg Hansen of Mill Valley, California; and daughter-in-law, Laura Roberts of Winter Park, Florida.
He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
