John Frederick Glade
Birth: October 30, 1895, New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut
Death: August 5, 1930 at Washington, D.C.
The son Conrad and Antionette Glade, John went to school in New Haven until the eight grade. Then went to work as a drop forger for Winchester Arms Co.
In 1917 he joined the Army and went to war in France. He was a Private, Company D, 102nd Machine Gun Battalion. The wounds he received from a high explosive shell just 6 months later, were so severe he was sent home to Walter Reed Hospital in 1918. He never married, and died at the age of 35.
He was buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
