Captain John F. Collingwood, U.S. Navy, retired, 83, died May 29, 2001 at home.
He was born in North Bend, Washington, September 9, 1918. He served his country in the Navy for 32 years. A few of his many commendations are: Navy Unit Commendation with Bronze Star, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Stars, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and traveling the world with his wife of 30 years, Ruth. He is survived by his wife, a son, three grandchildren, and several great- grandchildren.
No public service is planned. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
