Jack D. Wells, of Lexington, Kentucky, a retired U. S. Army Colonel and investment banker, pilot in World War II and an instructor at the U. S. Military Academy
at West Point has died on March 16, 1999.
Colonel Wells was born at Norton, Virginia, and died Saturday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky, age 77.
His parents are Robert Nicholson and Marcia Evans Wells (deceased); his wife is Eila Shirley Mason Wells, Lexington, Kentucky; his son is John T. Wells, Jasper, Texas; and his daughters are Eila W. Sheehan, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Susan W. Howard, Austin, Texas and Ann W. Stewart, Washington, D.C. Also survives by this brother, Robert N. Wells, Jr., Brick, New Jersey; his sister, Marcia Wells Dupree, Lexington, Kentucky.
Military service: U. S. Army veteran – World War II, awarded the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit, and Purple Heart.
Burial: Arlington National Cemetery – Arlington, Virginia
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
