James Benjamin Ryan, 87 of Lusby died Thursday, August 3,2000 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Born July 6, 1913 in Big Lake, Washington, he was the son of the late James Carter and Ruth Adams Ryan.
Commander Ryan was a veteran of two wars, World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 23 years of service as a Naval Officer.
He is survived by one son, Michael Ryan; two daughters, Patricia Farley of Thatcher, Idaho, and Mollie McGlochlin of Coeurd-Alene, Idaho; one step-son, Marvin Edward Warhost of Huntington, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Natasha Hawkins of Scotsdale, Arizona, and Noel Kyburg of Shortsville, New York; and one step-grandson, James Mills of Waldorf.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
