Lieutenant Junior Grade Evans a veteran of World War II.
In Korea, he was the pilot of a F9F-2 Pantherjet fighter with Fighter Squadron 93, aboard the carrier USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CVA-47).
On February 16, 1953, while attacking bridges and interdicting railways, his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire and crashed into the water. He was listed as Missing in Action.
For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Junior Grade Evans was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
