Colonel Allen was General Allen’s son, Henry T. Jr. A graduate of Harvard in 1913, he had been commissioned in 1917. He was cited for gallantry with the 90th Division during World War I and remained in the Army after the war, retiring as a Colonel in 1946.
As a Captain, Allen was selected from the American Forces in Germany to be a member of the 1920 U.S. Army Olympic Equestrian Team. He competed in the individual jumping competition at the 1920 Games.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
