Captain Schlueter was a member of 2nd Platoon, H Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. He was killed-in-action, while fighting the enemy at Hill 229 Outpost “Hedy” in Korea on March 24, 1953.
He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.
Buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Section 9 Grave 6141
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
