Veteran of the War of 1812, serving with the 26th Maryland Militia.
Lieutenant Colonel Hugh Auld, Jr., (1767-1820), 26th Regt., 12th Brigade, married Zipporah Willson (1775-1849).
He died on November 2, 1820 and was first buried elsewhere. He is now buried adjacent to his father, Hugh Auld, in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
