GRACE LOUISE MARSHALL STEVENS
ARMY WIFE AND MOTHER
Grace Louise Marshall Stevens, 52, died June 17, 1968 in The Presidio, San Francisco, California. She was born in 1916 in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of Charles E. and Lillian Washington Marshall. She attended both the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington in Seattle. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
She married Pat M. Stevens III in 1938 and after his return from Europe at War’s end, accompanied him on assignments in Fort Bliss, Fort Leavenworth, Washington D.C., London, Philadelphia, Fort Monroe and Okinawa. She was a consistent champion golfer and gave much time to leading women’s golf groups at her many stations.
She is survived by her husband, retired Colonel Pat M Stevens III, USA, a son, Major General Pat M. Stevens IV, USA, Ret., a daughter, Nancy Stevens Vaughan, four grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Arlington National Cemetery in June 1968.
NOTE: Her Colonel, Pat M. Stevens III, died on 21 June 2007 and joined his beloved wife in peaceful rest in Arlington National Cemetery on 5 September 2007.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
