March 2000 Class of 1964 Assembly Notes – George Jacunski
Once again it is my sad duty to report the death of a Classmate. Jeff Kleb passed away on December 2, 1999 in Falls Church, Virginia, and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on the 13th. Dan Evans was involved with the family from the beginning and spoke on behalf of the class using words from Dick Chilcoat and email messages from classmates.
Bob Magruder provided the following:
“The Chapel at Fairfax was packed and the service was a mini-reunion of sorts with some 50 classmates in attendance along with wives and friends. The ceremony at Arlington was held in a light rain that seemed to be just a nuisance that all could tolerate for this occasion. The Chaplain at the gravesite did an outstanding job of highlighting Jeff’s contributions and strengths and the Old Guard’s funeral detail did their magnificent duty.”
Jeff was one of those guys who performed above and beyond for our class. He was in charge of memorial activities for the 30th Reunion and successfully undertook the daunting task of insuring that all obits were written and published in the Assembly prior to that event. For our first 20 years, Jeff was the class switchboard, keeping abreast of class comings and goings, and in Europe publishing a short newsletter to those stationed there on whom was where on the continent. On a personal note, Jeff was one of my most loyal contributors and I could always count on getting a middle of the night phone call from Moscow or some other far-flung venue to update me on class activities.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
