Awarded the Medal of Honor for services rendered during the Civil War at Millerstown, Pennsylvania, in July 1863 while serving as Sergeant, Company B, 6th United States Cavalry.
He was born in Germany on April 28, 1839 and died on June 20, 1924. He was buried in Section 17 of Arlington National Cemetery.
