A graduate of the West Point Class of 1938, he proudly served his country in Europe, Korea and the U.S.
He is survived by his sons, Drury Norris and David Norris; daughter, Priscilla Norris; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services at the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Virginia, September 25 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Point Fund, c/o the Association of West Point Graduates, West Point, New York 10996.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
