Francis M. Clark, 86, Colonel, United States Army (retired) of San Diego, California, passed away April 16, 1999. A full military honors ceremony will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery on May 17, where he will be buried next to his wife.
He was born Nov. 12, 1912 in Traynor, Pennsylvania.
Colonel Clark and his wife, Betty, were former residents of Fairfield Glade, where they owned a home for 13 years. Mrs. Clark preceded Mr. Clark in death 15 years earlier. Mr. Clark moved to San Diego in 1995.
After 32 years of active duty in the U.S. Army, Clark retired as a Colonel, and was known as “Colonel Clark” to many of his friends, even following his retirement.
An avid golfer and bridge player, he played both as often as possible.
Survivors include his sons, Frank Clark Jr., Bill Clark, and Dave Clark; daughter, Betsie Kaye; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
