NAVAL OFFICER A SUICIDE
Lieutenant E. W. Hampson Swallows Poison At San Diego
SAN DIEGO, California – July 25, 1932 – Edgar W. Hampson, a Lieutanant Junior Grade, attached to the submarine tender Holland, ended his life aboard ship late last night by swallowing poison, naval authorities reported.
Hampson recently had been arrested on a charge of overstaying his leave from the ship, and despondency over this was believed responsible.
