Actress Found Hanged
Death Listed As a Suicide –
She Appeared With Drew
Mrs. Florence Harrison Payne, 83 years old, a former Skakespearean actress who appeared with the John Drew Company on Broadway at the turn of the centrury, was found hanged in her home yesterday.
The police listed the death as a suicide. The woman’s husband, Colonel Edwin V. R. Payme, discovered the body. Mrs. Payme had suffered a series of strokes.
Mrs. Payne founded the Minneapolis Little Theatre just before World War I, and was the first director of the Rochester, New York, COmmunity Theatre.
She had been a resident here for the past twenty-six years. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
