Edwin M. Truell was born at Lowell, Massachusetts, August 19, 1841, he earned the Medal of Honor in the Civil War while serving as Private, Company E, 12th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry near Atlanta, Georgia, July 21, 1864. The Medal was actually presented to him on March 11, 1870.
He died on October 12, 1907 and was buried in Section 13 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
