Edward Hunter, Private, Company H 124th Regiment, was born in Montgomery, Orange County New York in October 1843. He was the son of George and Margaret (Yerks) Hunter. Was a farmer and resided in Montgomery at date of enlistment, August 16, 1862.
He was in actions at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Wounded in the latter engagement and sent to hospital at Gettysburg, where he remained September 16, 1863. Wounded in the shoulder May 18, 1864, died of wounds June 30, 1864 and buried in National Cemetery at Arlington Virginia.
