The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Daniel D. Pullen, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action in the Bois- de-Cuisy, France, September 26, 1918.
Colonel Pullen displayed conspicuous gallantry and leadership in directing a tank attack on the Bois-de-Cuisy, after which he rallied a force of disorganized infantry, leading it forward in the face of violent machine-gun fire, and occupying the ground which had been taken by the tanks.
