Casimir Sylwa Sylwanowicz was born on February 26, 1947 and joined the Armed Forces while in Flint, Michigan.
He served as an Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. In one year of service, he attained the rank of Lance Corporal (E3).
On February 12, 1967, at the age of 19, Casimir Sylwa Sylwanowicz perished in
the service of our country in South Vietnam, Thua Thien.
He was returned to the United States and buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Section 37, Grave 132.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
