Calvin J. Landau, a retired Army Colonel of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, died on Sunday, March 12, 2000, in Miami, Florida.
Cal graduated from Cornell University and was commissioned in 1948 as a Second Lieutenant, US Army Field Artillery. Cal was married to Barbara Cohn who died in 1983 and shared a 30+ year Army career with him including both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Cal retired in 1978 having commanded batallions in Germany and Vietnam and the Artillery Training Brigade at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. His many awards included the Soldiers and Distinguished Service Medals.
Cal was the SE Regional Director for Cornell University until his passing.
Cal is survived by wife, Ann; children, Linda (Tim) Roden, Kathy and Jeff (Liz) Landau; brother, Howard; grandchildren, Katie and Lizzie Roden and Michael and Nicholas Landau; and step- children, Susan, Ruth and David Honig.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Ft. Meyer Officer’s Club.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
