Born on December 9, 1894 in New York, New York.
Commissioned from Annapolis in 1916. Duty with the Bureau of Ordnance 1938-1941.
Commanding Officer of the Memphis 1941-1942. Chief of Staff of Fourth Fleet 1942-1945. Commodore in April 1944. Commanded Naval Base Newport 1945-1946.
Retired in May 1949. Decorations included three Legions of Merit.
Died on January 12, 1951.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
