He was born 21 October 1914 and died on 29 March 1998.
He enlisted first the Army in 1933 and again at the beginning of WWII. He was sent to Officers Candidate School and went on to serve more than 30 years on active duty, transferring eventually to the Air Force. He retired from active military duty in 1971.
He was buried at Arlington on 08 August 1998 with full military honors, in Section 64, Grave 2171.
He was described simply as a patriot. He is survived by his wife Eleanor and one son.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
