Chief Clerk, War Department
The son-in-law of John C. Scofield, Chief Clerk of the War Department, he served in the headquarters company of the 315th Infantry, 79th Division, American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), in World War I. He was born in 1892 and died in 1958.
He is buried in Section 15 of Arlington National Cemetery. His wife, Florence Schofield Catanach, August 15, 1900-January 29, 1923), and her parents are buried with him.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
