FIVE SERVICES HELD FOR BOZEMAN BULGER
Rites for Sports Writer in Masonic Temple, Lynbrook, Long Island
Burial Today in Arlington
LYNBROOK, Long Island, May 24, 1932 – Funeral services for Lieutenant Colonel Bozeman Bulger, sports writer and war veteran, were held tonight. There were five services. The Rev. Nelson T. Munson conducted the Baptist service; Rabbi A. Joseph Lasker the American Legion’s; William H. Leyden officiated for the Elks, Albert H. Ergens for the Masons and Henry D’Arcy for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will take place tomorrow in the Arlington National Cemetery at Washington.
Among those present were John T. Heydler, president of the National League; Charles A. Stoneham and James Tierney, president and secretary of the New York Giants; Mrs. John J. McGraw, Irvin S. Cobb, Loney Haskell, Tom Thorp, Damon Runyon, Ross Robertson, Frank Belcher and Richard Gilpin. The following well known sports writers acted as honorary pallbearers: William J. Slocum, John Drebinger, Richards Vidmar, Kenneth Smith, Frederick G. Lieb, Will Wedge, James J. Powers, Charles Segar, Daniel M. Daniel and Frank O’Neill.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
