Born at Koenigsberg, Germany, July 14, 1869, he earned the Medal of Honor on April 1, 1899 while serving in the Philippine Insurrection at Savoa, Philippine Islands. The Medal was actually issued to him by General Orders 55, July 1901.
He died on June 13, 1957 and was buried in Section 53 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
