Alice Semple Lee, 83, a retired Army Nurse Corps Captain who served in the Philippines and Australia during World War II, died August 18, 2001, at the Hospice of Northern Virginia. She had dementia.
Captain Lee was a native of Beverly, Massachusetts, and a 1941 graduate of a hospital nursing school in Lynn, Massachusetts. After her wartime service, she settled in the Washington area and retired from the Army in 1951.
She spent most of her adult life in the Rose Hill area of Alexandria and about the last 10 years in Reston. She had been active in the Civil Air Patrol.
Her interests included crafts and travel.
Her husband, Robert E. Lee, died in 1991.
Survivors include two sisters and a brother.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
