June 8, 1930 – November 21, 2002A. Mike Quint, Sr. went home to our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 21, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Mike was a native of Ness City, Kansas, the seventh of eight children born to Mike and Clara Quint, nee Rupp. He graduated from Ness City High School in 1948.
After a two-year tour with the Navy, he enlisted in the United State Army in 1950.
He distinguished himself in combat and received a battlefield commission in 1951.
He served in combat yet again as the commander of the 9th Aviation Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.
Mike retired from the Army in June 1970, and entered civilian life as a real estate broker. For over thirty years, he pursued various business ventures including life insurance, import-export, tax preparation and estate planning.
“Iron” Mike Quint is survived by his wife, Charlene; his sister, Lillian Pate; his three children, Mike Jr., Patrice Sadler, and Marcus; their mother, Hella Quint Grayson; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on December 13 in Peoria, Arizona. Colonel Quint will be interred among our nation’s heroes at Arlington National Cemetery on January 3, 2003.

Born in Ness City, Kansas on June 8, 1930, Mike is survived by his wife Charlene, sister Lillian Pate, two sons, A. Mike, Jr., Marcus, and daughter Patrice Sadler, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Clara Quint (Rupp) and six brothers and sisters.
Mike retired from the United States Army as an Aviator in 1970 after serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 8615 W Peoria Ave, Peoria, AZ on Fri. Dec. 13, 2002 Rosary at 8 AM with Memorial Mass at 9 AM.
Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on January 3, 2003. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Mike Quint to Hospice of the Valley Sun City or a Catholic Charity of your choice.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
