Beloved husband Commander Albert Leon, USN retired, 75, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was called home by the Lord on July 15, 2005. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Cecil and Mary Leon.
Commander Leon retired from the U.S. Navy in October of 1978 with 30 years of service. He was deep selected for the rank of Commander and was proud to be a Mustang. Albert was recognized as distinguished and honorable and he was proud to have served his country. He was a member of the RAO and MOAA. Mr. Leon was also a member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher and verified collection offerings.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia A. Leon of Virginia Beach; 3 children, Albert Paul Leon of Norfolk, Denise Beasty and her companion J.R. of Panama City, Florida and her former husband, Michael Beasty and Jessica Mae DuPree and husband David, of Virginia Beach; 5 sisters, Regina M. Linder of Hamstead, Maryland, Helen Curry of New Port Richey, Florida, Maryanna Trotta of Hamstead, Maryland, Filomena LaSorte and husband Fred, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Gloria J. Merzbacher and husband, John of Baltimore, Maryland; sister in law, Eileen Leon; 7 grandchildren, Eileen, Cecelia, Sarah, Jordan, Shyanne, Ashley, and Alex; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Mr. Leon is predeceased by his brother, Robert L. Leon.
A celebration of Commander Leon’s life will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Kempsville Presbyterian Church with Pastor Nate Atwood, officiating. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
