Washington, March 21, 1931 – Major Alfred H. Erck, who was stationed in the office of the chief coordinator of the government, died at Walter Reed General Hopital last night. Born in Fort Bridges, Wyoming, in 1886, he entered the Army as a Second Lieuenant of Infantry in 1908 and during the World War served in the Quartermaster Corps. He reached the grade of Major in 1920.
His father was Philip G. Erck of the Army Hospital Corps, but his burial site is not known.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
